Meet Our 2026-27 Team
Our multi-disciplinary team combines experience with passion, creativity, and dedication in order to take action on mental health at the University of Toronto.

Edward Wang
Chair
Hello! My name is Edward, and I’m a second-year MSc student at the Institute of Medical Science. My research explores the impacts of cannabis legalization and commercialization in Canada on youth and young adults.
I’m excited to continue supporting the mental health and well-being of U of T graduate students and to help build a welcoming community where students can connect, support one another, and feel a greater sense of belonging.
Outside of school, I love reading, running, and baking. I’m also always up for trying something new, whether that’s picking up a new hobby, exploring a new part of the city, or attempting a recipe I’ve never made before. I’m looking forward to meeting more of the graduate community this year and seeing what we can build together!

Nitha A. Vincent
Elemental Magazine Editor-in-Chief
Hi! I'm Nitha (she/her), a second-year MSc Medical Science student at the Institute of Medical Science (IMS). My research is on continuing medical education for physicians caring for patients with chronic pain and opioid-related conditions.
I graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Studies from the University of Toronto Scarborough, where I discovered my passion for understanding and treating substance use and substance use disorders, specifically in youth and young adults.
When I'm not in class, you can find me in a cozy nook reading a book or playing video games.

Emilie Kovalik
Executive Team Member
Hello All! I'm Emilie and I'm a second-year PhD student studying developmental psychology. Most of my work focused on the development of kindness and prosocial behaviours in early and middle childhood.
As part of the Grad Minds team, I hope to encourage people to take care of themselves and eachother throughout both good and bad times. When I'm not studying, you can find me at a local coffee shop, out in nature, or at one of the many concerts Toronto has to offer!
